Sunday was a good one at the 15th annual Governors Ball Festival in Queens.
After Saturday’s washout, causing cancellations and frustration, Blood Orange was moved to Sunday’s schedule to strengthen what was already the strongest day.
The day featured some very solid morning and early-afternoon acts, including Evening Elephants, Hannah Jadagu, and Holly Humberstone. Fcuckers were very fun at The Grove as well.
Things turned up a notch when Geese took the main stage as the evening began. The hometown indie rock band is known for its garage band-sounding raw energy, and that certainly shined tonight.
Hot Mulligan was the other rock band of the day. The band performed at The Grove at 7:15 p.m., which ended up being a really cool stage for them. The band didn’t quite fit into the overall bill, but nonetheless, they performed a good set, and even boo’d the VIP fans.
Dominic Fike went on after Hot Mulligan. Fike performed in the same slot at GovBall in 2024, going on right before Post Malone, and he performed one of the best sets of the weekend. This year was no different. Dominic Fike continues to be a very underrated performer who is a very valuable booking for any festival.
A$AP Rocky closed the set with a short but strong headlining set. At just 75 minutes, the set is about half the length of his current headlining tour set length. Using Stray Kids’ walkout stage setup from the other night, A$AP Rocky was able to really use the energy of the crowd to help his set.
Aside from Lorde and Dominic Fike, A$AP Rocky put together one of the best sets of the weekend, and proved why he was billed where he was.
