Veteran punk rock band Sum 41 opened up the Stone Pony Show for the 2024 season on Saturday night, along with The Interrupters and Joey Valence & Brae. It was the groups final show in the state of New Jersey on their farewell tour.

The sold out show started with rap and hip-hop duo Joey Valence & Brae, who performed 30 minutes in the rain. The Beastie Boys-influenced group, who had a large group of fans for their set, debuted their newest song ‘THE BADDEST’ from their upcoming record.

The group also performed their hits like ‘Double Jump’ and ‘PUNK TACTICS’ as well as some unreleased new tracks.

The Interrupters took the stage at 7:20 and played as the sun set, also in the cold and rainy conditions. The ska-punk band, lead by female vocalist Aimee Interrupter, have been to the Stone Pony Summer Stage each year for the past three years. They appeared at the stage in 2022 with Flogging Molly and in 2023 with Frank Turner.

The band started the show by handing out hand warmers to fans in the front row, and played songs for just under an hour. They also included ‘Anything Was Better’ in their set, which was the tour debut.

The show ended with the long awaited appearance of Sum 41, the five-piece band on their farewell tour. The band released their new album ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ in March and performed five songs from that record, as well as hits from most of their albums.

The show included pyrotechnics like lasers and smoke, and included a double encore, which was only done at select shows on the tour.

Sum 41 continues their tour Sunday and Monday in Brooklyn on ‘The Tour of the Setting Sum: The Final World Tour’ which ends in February of 2025 in Canada.

The next show on the Summer Stage is Joe Russo’s Almost Dead on Friday, May 17th.
