As tours for the summer have been coming in, the Rooftop at Pier 17 has put together a poster to highlight all the shows at the venue. The Rooftop is a premier venue for outdoor summer concerts in Manhattan. With a capacity of 3,400 people, the venue has a beautiful view of New York City, and the stage is very nice with two video screens on the sides. And you can’t forget the best part: shows end at 10:00 pm, so you can always get home early.

May 4 & 8: Social Distortion & Bad Religion

Social Distortion and Bad Religion are bringing their big North American summer tour to the Rooftop for two nights. Social Distortion will be closing the Saturday, May 4th show, and Bad Religion will be closing the Wednesday, May 8th show.

May 11: Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

The sold-out show featuring hip-hop duo Freddie Gibbs & Madlib is the second show in the series. The duo have only played one show in New York city, 10 years ago at the Gramercy Theatre. They have never played a show together in New Jersey.

May 13: Electric Callboy

German electronic group Electric Callboy are coming to NYC this upcoming May on their North American tour. Once again, this group has never been to New Jersey, but they played a show last year in NYC at the Palladium Times Square.

May 31: NEEDTOBREATHE

South Carolina rock group NEEDTOBREATHE are bringing The Caves World Tour to NYC with guests Juddah & the Lion. The band is touring for their new record, CAVES, which released in September of 2023.

June 14: Greensky Bluegrass

The five-piece bluegrass band has a very rich history of shows in New York. In 2022, they played two nights at the Rooftop, and in the last two years, they have played six shows in the state.

June 15: Reggae Fest Blaze

The reggae dance show is set to be a day full of vibes, with the day starting at 3:00 pm. You must be 21+ to enter and there is a very strict dress code, so if you’re going, make sure to check it out.

June 16: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue

New Orleans trombone player Trombone Shorty is bringing his group, Orleans Avenue, to the Rooftop to round off the first set of three shows in a row at Pier 17. He is bringing along opener Neal Francis for the show.

June 21: Something Corporate

Something Corporate has made their reunion at When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in 2023, and are playing their first show in New York in 14 years, during their 2010 reunion. The band was also at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey in 2010.

June 22: Billy Currington

Country music artist Billy Currington is bringing his tour to New York along with openers Larry Fleet and Redferrin. It’ll be the 50 year-olds first time at the Rooftop.

July 6: Everyday People

Everyday People with DJ Moma & Friends head to the Rooftop in July. The show is an early one, starting at 3:00 pm.

July 9 & 10: Mother Mother & Cavetown

Mother Mother and Cavetown are bringing their summer co-headline tour to New York for two nights in July! They’re bringing Destroy Boys with them. Cavetown will close on July 9th and Mother Mother will close on July 10th.

July 11: moe.

moe. is bringing the ‘Best. Summer. Ever.’ tour to the Rooftop with special guest Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, who played at Sea.Hear.Now in 2023. moe., the jam band from Buffalo, have played over 450 shows in the state of New York, their last in the city being in 2023 at the Brooklyn Bowl.

July 12: Michael Franti & Spearhead

Michael Franti & Spearhead, another former Sea.Hear.Now artist in 2022, is bringing Trevor Hall & the Great In-Between to New York City on the ‘Togetherness Tour’ in the US. Michael Franti was last in NYC with a headline set at the SummerStage in Central Park last year.

July 17: Old Crow Medicine Show

Multi-time Grammy award winning country band Old Crow Medicine is bringing Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway to the Rooftop on the ‘Jubilee Tour’. The band is making it’s debut at the Rooftop this year.

July 18: Totally Tubular Festival

The Totally Tubular Festival is a touring fest making a stop in NYC. The festival features Thomas Dolby, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Modern English, and many others. The festival starts at 5:00 pm, so it’s not an all-day event.

July 23 & 24: Two Door Cinema Club

Irish alternative band Two Door Cinema Club is playing back-to-back nights at the Rooftop along with special guests Flipturn. The July 23rd show has sold out, but there are still tickets available for the second show on the 24th.

July 25 & 26: O.A.R.

O.A.R. are also playing back-to-back shows right after TDCC, along with Fitz & the Tantrums and DJ Logic. O.A.R. is the band behind Oceans Calling Festival, along with C3 Presents, in Ocean City, Maryland. The festival features headliners blink-182, The Killers, and Dave Matthews Band.

July 28: Iration & Pepper

Iration and Pepper have announced a co-headline summer tour that is stopping at the Rooftop. They’re also bringing Denm and Artikal Sound System. The ‘Daytrippin in Paradise’ tour is also stopping at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in August.

August 1: Sad Summer Festival

Another festival is hitting the Rooftop: Sad Summer, featuring pop-punk bands Mayday Parade, The Maine, The Wonder Years, We the Kings, and many more. This is a super fun festival that has been taking place for the past five years, and is returning to smaller GA venues after playing amphitheaters last year.

August 3: Anjunabeats Outdoors

Anjunabeats is a fun, day-long event coming to NYC this year. The day starts at 3:00 pm and Ajunabeats’ website says to expect a “star-studded” lineup for the show.

August 4: Slash

Slash is bringing yet another festival to NYC! He’s bringing his brand new S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival to the Rooftop, including himself headlining, Keb’ Mo’, ZZ Ward, and Robert Randolph. According to the festival’s website, “S.E.R.P.E.N.T. is an anagram and stands for Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N’ Tolerance.”

August 8 & 9: Still Woozy

Still Woozy is bringing the ‘Loveseat Tour’ with guest Michelle to the Rooftop, and just added a second show. Still Woozy is Sven Gamsky’s solo project.

August 15: Stray Cats

New York native Stray Cats are coming to NYC. The band began in 1979 and is still active today, with Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom.

August 16: Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird is bringing his summer tour to the Rooftop with special guest Amadou & Mariam. Andrew Bird is a multi-instrumentalist Indie artist, who has been creating music since 1996.

August 17 & 18: Taking Back Sunday

The Long Island natives are playing two (almost) hometown shows in Manhattan this summer. They’re bringing guest Citizen for their tour supporting their new record, 152. The first show is sold out and there are still tickets available for the 18th.

August 24: Sublime with Rome

With the original Sublime lineup featuring Jakob Nowell making its reunion, Sublime with Rome is coming to an end. This will be their final show in New York City for the time being, as Rome will be moving on to personal projects.

August 31: Pigeons Playing Ping Pong

The Pigeon Frasco Dogs Tour is coming to NYC, featuring Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Andy Frasco & the UN, and Dogs in a Pile. Fun name for a tour, fun poster, and should be a fun show.

September 12: Dashboard Confessional

Dashboard Confessional is bringing a star-studded lineup of acts to Pier 17. The show also features Boys Like Girls and Taylor Acorn on their Fall 2024 Tour.

October 12: Nothing But Thieves

The Rooftop’s schedule expands into October as Nothing But Thieves is performing in NYC on their ‘Welcome to the DCC World Tour: North America Part 2’. Openers have yet to be announced and tickets are still available.

Should be a big year for the Rooftop at Pier 17 once again! It’s a great venue for summer outdoor shows in the city.
