The ‘Gor Gor Strikes Back’ tour brought the mighty GWAR to Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, a venue the band has now played 14 times.
GWAR truly did take over the venue. As many were prepared for and many seemingly found out for the first time, band members very often shoot blood into the crowd. Because of this, Starland Ballroom shut down its lower bars and covered an immense amount of equipment in plastic wrapping.
The band, which has been around for 41 years despite not having any original members left, followed a storyline throughout the show featuring Gor Gor, a t-rex. The show also featured sacrifices of many political figures on stage.
GWAR ran through a mostly greatest-hits setlist while also tossing in a cover of Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club’ in the encore.
