Paramus-native Jake Thistle advanced to “Hollywood Week” on American Idol after receiving “yes” votes from judges Lionel Ritchie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.

Thistle is a 21-year-old Rutgers University graduate and prominent member of the Asbury Park music scene. After his performance on American Idol, Lionel Ritchie told Thistle that he is “checking some boxes for me.”
Idol’s “Hollywood Week” will air across two episodes from Nashville on ABC on Feb. 23 and Mar. 2.
