Say Anything, a band who has been great to New Jersey in recent memory, and Motion City Soundtrack, who just released a new record, warmed up the Garden State amid its coldest stretch in years.
Sincere Engineer, a can’t-miss band who you may have seen open for New Found Glory a couple of years ago, opened the night at Starland Ballroom.
The band has a strong half-hour showing. Their latest record, Cheap Grills, is a great listen.

Motion City Soundtrack kicked off the co-headline portion of the night. The band relied heavily on their latest record, The Same Old Wasteful Wonderful World, but made sure to squeeze in all of their hits — in which there are many — into their limited set.

Lead singer Justin Pierre led the crowd to many singalongs, in fact this show was one of the louder I’ve seen at Starland in a while.

Say Anything, who headlined this venue on their last tour, were a great way to close out the night.
Of their many shows at Starland Ballroom, this would probably be considered one of their best. And to make it sweeter, Taking Back Sunday’s Fred Mascherino performed as the band’s touring guitarist in his return to Starland Ballroom since rejoining TBS.

The band also performed an acoustic version of “I Want to Know Your Plans” before closing their hour-long set with “Alive With All the Glory of Love.”
