September is a big month for music in New Jersey: two major festivals, more stadium shows, and more bands beginning their fall tours with northeast stops.
Below is a list of featured shows in the Garden State this month:
September 1: Oasis at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford
The band is continuing their two-night run at The Meadowlands on their highly-demanded reunion tour.
September 5: The Hold Steady at White Eagle Hall, Jersey City
The Hold Steady, formed in Brooklyn in the early 2000s, is known for its Springsteen-inspired rock sound and singer Craig Finn’s storytelling lyrics.
The band has played White Eagle Hall three other times, making them one of the most attended bands at the venue.
September 6: Old Dominion at Etess Arena, Atlantic City
Country rock group Old Dominion is making a stop at The Hard Rock in AC, their first New Jersey show since 2024’s Barefoot Country Music Fest headlining appearance.
The band also opened for Kenny Chesney at MetLife Stadium in 2022.
September 6 – 7: Bolero Block Party featuring The Get Up Kids and Andy Frasco & the UN at Bolero Snort Brewery, Carlstadt
The inaugural Bolero Block Party is making its debut with two strong headliners: The Get Up Kids and Andy Frasco & the U.N.
Also appearing is Piebald, Stolen Gin, Wax Jaw, and Smushie.
September 10: UB40 at Wellmont Theater, Montclair
UB40 is hitting The Wellmont Theater ahead of their performance at Sea.Hear.Now the following weekend.
September 10: Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace at Prudential Center, Newark
On the same day, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace are bringing their large-scale arena tour to The Rock with guests Return to Dust.
September 11: Dorothy at Wellmont Theater, Montclair
As the Wellmont’s September lineup grows stronger, the venue will welcome Dorothy for a Thursday night of the “Redemption” tour.
The band performed at MMRBQ this summer, along with a show at The Stone Pony in April.
September 12: Our Last Night at Wellmont Theater, Montclair
Our Last Night is playing one of their last shows ever at The Wellmont Theater. They’ll be bringing along Grayscale for the final tour.
September 12: Sea.Hear.Now Kick-Off and Late Nights
The Sea.Hear.Now festivities start early on Friday afternoon with the kick-off show, rolling into the night at the Stone Pony and Wonder Bar.
The Kick-Off Show on Cookman Avenue features performances from Bumpin’ Uglies, Brick + Mortar, and more. Music will run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm.
The annual “There Goes the Neighborhood” kick-off show will be at the Wonder Bar as always, featuring Jarod Clemons, Blaise, and Echo Plum. The show is 21+.
G.Love and Special Sauce will headline The Stone Pony on Friday night. The show is 18+.
September 13: Sea.Hear.Now Late Nights
Late nights continue on Saturday night.
One of our favorite shows of the year, Tangiers Blues Band with The Ocean Avenue Stompers, will headline The Stone Pony for “The Ocean Ave Stomp.” Many special guests are expected – previous Stomps have included Bruce Springsteen, Noah Kahan, and Brandon Flowers.
September 13 – 14: Sea.Hear.Now Festival featuring blink-182 and Hozier at North Beach, Asbury Park
Sea.Hear.Now kicks off its 7th year with blink-182 and Hozier at the helm. Our full in-depth preview will be released on Wednesday, September 10.
September 13: Outlaw Country Music Festival featuring Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson at PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel
As the music festivals continue, Outlaw Country returns to Holmdel with Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, Waxahatchee, and more.
September 15 – 18: Vampire Weekend at Wellmont Theater, Montclair
Vampire Weekend is hosting a four-night residency at The Wellmont Theater, just a few minutes out of their home of New York City. All shows are sold out.
September 19: Staind at Etess Arena, Atlantic City
Rock band Staind returns to Etess Arena in Atlantic City. The band has previously performed 33 shows in New Jersey.
September 24: The Revivalists at Wellmont Theater, Montclair
One of the hottest folk/indie/rock bands out there right now, The Revivalists, are headlining The Wellmont in North Jersey later this month. It will be a great one!
September 24: Tyler Childers at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Camden
Indie/country star Tyler Childers is making a stop by the NJ/Philly border with a headlining show at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.
September 24 – 25: Bayside at The Stone Pony, Asbury Park
Bayside will be performing two nights at The Stone Pony, with completely different setlists each night for their “Errors Tour,” a play on Taylor Swift’s “Era’s Tour.”
September 26: Ed Sheeran at Prudential Center, Newark
“We Can Survive” returns to the Prudential Center this year, this time with Ed Sheeran, Goo Goo Dolls, Shaboozey, and Alex Warren. Two well-respected legends paired with two of the biggest names at the moment!
September 27: Stephen Wilson Jr. at Starland Ballroom, Sayreville
Country fan-favorite Stephen Wilson Jr., coming off a tour with HARDY, will be headlining the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on the “Son of A” tour.
September 27: The Menzingers at Stone Pony Summer Stage, Asbury Park
NJ legends The Menzingers will headline the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park for the first time at the end of September.
September 27: The 502s at Asbury Lanes, Asbury Park
The 502s, a folk/indie band, will perform at Asbury Lanes at the end of the month.
