Belleville natives and New Jersey legends My Chemical Romance stopped by MetLife Stadium for a huge show for over 60,000 fans on Saturday night, performing the entirety of “The Black Parade” record, and receiving the keys to the city that they grew up in.

Belleville Mayor Michael Melham appeared on stage before “Welcome to the Black Parade,” stepping up to lead singer Gerard Way’s podium to present the prestigious award.

The key is the first to ever be awarded on behalf of Belleville.

Way accepted the gift for the band, whilst remaining in full Eastern European character, and even gifted Mayor Melham a bundle of sticks and a fish. You’d just have to be there to get it.

Death Cab for Cutie opened the show, along with New Brunswick natives Thursday. MCR closed with a cover of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
