Counting Crows and The Gaslight Anthem made their first of two stops in New Jersey on the “Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets” tour on Saturday.

Gaslight, who had to play to a lighter crowd than usual as the first band of the night, played a killer 14 tracks. The band played something from almost every record, plus a Tom Petty and Mother Love Bone cover.

Lead singer Brian Fallon didn’t do much talking in his short, hour-long set, but he did express his appreciation to Counting Crows music and how personable the band has been behind the scenes. He also mentioned that “Chloe Dancer,” a Mother Love Bone song, was one of his favorites to listen to on the bus ride to school.

After a fairly short intermission, Counting Crows hit the stage to their newest single, “Spaceman in Tulsa,” a perfect rock and roll opener for a band like them.
