Welcome to Jersey Jukebox, a semi-monthly rotating playlist of both your favorite Jersey artists and the ones you should look out for. This week features a local band covering a local band, a celebration to The Gaslight Anthem’s first night of the tour, and artists that are coming to New Jersey this week.
- Joker’s Republic: We Will Fall Together – A cover of Streetlight Manifesto’s biggest hit from another Jersey ska band, minus the horns. The group recorded this track in Florida with Less Than Jake’s bassist.
- The Gaslight Anthem: Dark Places – The group began their tour with Counting Crows in Tennessee last night, and performed this track for the first time since it was released in 2014.
- The Beach Boys: Surfin’ USA – Today, Beach Boys founding member Brian Wilson passed away at the age of 82. Wilson was responsible for much of the songwriting in the Beach Boys’ hits, including this track. The band will be performing with lead singer Mike Love and guest John Stamos at the PNC Bank Arts Center on June 14.
- Bleachers: Modern Girl – Later this month, Bleachers will headline their annual ‘Shadow of the City’ festival on the Stone Pony Summer Stage. The group released this track in 2023 as part of their self-titled album.
- Prince Daddy & the Hyena: ***HIDDEN TRACK*** – Announced today, the band will be opening for Streetlight Manifesto at the fan-favorite ‘Long Summer Night’ show on the Stone Pony Summer Stage later this month.
- Counting Crows: Mr. Jones – The Crows will be stopping by the Garden State twice within the next few weeks: once at PNC, and once in AC. Though the band is from the west coast, lead singer Adam Duritz is from nearby Baltimore.
- Megan Moroney: No Caller ID – Megan will be part of NJ’s biggest festival of the summer months, Barefoot Country Music Fest, taking place during the last weekend of June. Moroney will perform on Thursday night.
