Jim Messina returned to the Garden State for the first time since 2023 for a night of classic rock ‘n’ roll at Englewood’s Bergen Performing Arts Center.

Messina, along with his band, performed a full set with tracks from Loggins & Messina, Poco, and his own solo catalogue.

After walking out to Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”, his set opened with hits from Loggins & Messina like “Watching the River Run” and “House at Pooh Corner”, both of which ended in standing ovations from the crowd. Songs from his solo discography included “Mexican Minutes” and “New and Different Way”, plus the show even featured a performance of Poco’s “You Better Think Twice”.

During the show, each member of the band was featured under the spotlight to perform solos, and the band’s comradery shined throughout.

Messina and his crew trek on with a show in Hartford, CT on Sunday. Full spring and summer dates can be viewed here.
