The Offspring have made a return to live music as one of the better acts of punk rock, leaving their previous decade of live sound behind.
Though the general consensus by online fans of The Offspring being a “horrible” live group live was swirling for years, since the pandemic, the band has come back with a complete 180 of those theories.
Since When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, The Offspring have been seen by many as one of the top punk rock live bands to see, and it continued over for their headlining set at MMRBQ in Camden, NJ at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.
The day was full of all sorts of artists, eight in total, as the 18th edition of the festival continues to show how successful the festival has been over the past nearly two decades.
The Offspring’s 15-song, 65-minute set was a throwback to the heart of the ’90s. Though the band started 15 minutes late due to other acts going over time, the band still tried their best and even finished after curfew at 11:05 pm.
The group, led by lead singer Dexter Holland, performed hits like “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “Self Esteem,” while mixing in deep cuts like “Hammerhead” and covers like The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop.”
Prior to The Offspring’s headlining set, Halestorm took the stage as a female-fronted rock act.
Other acts included Nothing More, The Warning, Silvertide, and more.
Opening the show was Jersey Calling, and as you might have guessed, the group comes right out of New Jersey.
The band was formed over 20 years ago and have appeared at many festivals in New Jersey over the years, including the Atlantic City Beer Fest earlier this year.
