The Piano Man himself, Billy Joel, is set to perform his final Madison Square Garden-residency show on Thursday night.

Though Joel doesn’t intend for it to be last show ever at the Garden, it will be his last of the monthly residency, which has been going on since 2014. It will also be his 150th show at the Garden.

Joel has been performing one-off shows at stadiums across the world as well, his most recent being the Colorado Rockies’ stadium, Coors Field in Denver, and he has done many co-headlines with artists like Stevie Nicks and Sting.

Speaking of which, Joel is notorious for bringing out special guests at his MSG residency shows, which a lot of the time, happens to be Sting.

Joel famously brought out Bruce Springsteen in 2018 to perform ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze Out’ and ‘Born to Run’ at Billy’s 100th show at the Garden.

He also recently brought out Trey Anastasio of Phish to play three songs: ‘Sleeping With the Television On,’ ‘Layla,’ and ‘You May Be Right.’

Elton John has done many shows with Billy, but Elton has only appeared on stage as a guest once. Many are speculating that John will appear with Joel at the 150th show, but nothing is leading towards that other than speculation.

The final show of the residency will be the end of an era, but not the end of a career, as Joel doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon, especially after his newest single, ‘Turn the Lights Back On.’
