The Sea.Hear.Now Festival, set to take place in Asbury Park, New Jersey on September 14-15, 2024, promises an exciting lineup, and among the standout performers is Joy Oladokun. Known for her soulful voice and evocative songwriting, Oladokun’s performance is highly anticipated and sure to be a highlight of the festival.
Oladokun, 32, is set to perform midday on Sunday, September 15th, with her stage and set time remaining unknown. For her style, it could be likely that she performs on the Park Stage, but that would be pure speculation. Many are also speculating that the schedule will be released this week.
Oladokun’s music is a unique blend of folk, R&B, and Pop, and her lyrics are always unique. Her performances are known for their emotional depth and connection to the audience. Joy’s inclusion in the lineup further showcases the festival and the city’s commitment to diversity and meaningful music.
As for her discography, she’s been at it for a respectable period of time, but not forever. Oladokun’s first record was released in 2016, featuring hit tracks like ‘No Turning Back’ and Poison.’
Her biggest album, by far, was her most recent release, ‘Proof of Life’ in 2023. The record features many collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the scene, across many genres, like Chris Stapleton, Mt. Joy, and Manchester Orchestra. On top of that list, however, is Noah Kahan.
Oladokun has collaborated with Kahan on quite a few occasions. On ‘Proof of Life,’ they collaborated on ‘We’re All Gonna Die,’ the penultimate track on the record.
On Kahan’s sophomore LP, ‘I Was/I Am,’ Oladokun features on one of the tracks, ‘Someone Like You.’
With Kahan notorious for collaborating and inviting artists on stage, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him invite Oladokun on stage during his Saturday headlining performance.
It’s also worth noting that her performance at Sea.Hear.Now will be her debut New Jersey show, with many appearances in New York, but none in the Garden State. It should be a much-anticipated set for many.
