Gogol Bordello, a punk band from Manhattan, is a very misleading way to describe the band. Seriously, if you’re going to see them at Sea.Hear.Now, you’re in for a pleasant surprise.

The band’s breakthrough record, Gypsy Punks, is a great listen if you want to get into their music. The record features tracks like ‘Sally’ and ‘Start Wearing Purple’, which are anger-infused tracks about not-so-big issues.

Though the band is from New York City, lead singer Eugene Hutz immigrated from Ukraine as a teenager before forming Gogol Bordello in 1999. Eugene isn’t the only immigrant in the band. In fact, pretty much the whole band is formed of people who immigrated to the States, from places like Ukraine, Ecuador, Russia, and Ethiopia.

If you can’t catch them at Sea.Hear.Now but still want to see them at some point, don’t worry – they’re always on tour. The band performs in New Jersey nearly every year, and has toured here with bands like Primus and Flogging Molly.

The band has racked up nearly 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with their top song, ‘Start Wearing Purple’, with over 20,000,000 streams on the platform.

The band should put on a heck of a show for the Jersey Shore crowd. Below is a bit more info on the group:
