The first day of the Governors Ball was a great success, and it was a great start to the weekend.

The day started with Blondshell on the main stage. The band had a Paramore-type vibe, with a female lead singer and high energy.

Blondshell’s stage presence was good and Sabrina Teitelbaum, the lead singer, sounded great.

Arcy Drive was next on the gopuff stage, and to many was a surprise. The Long Island natives crushed it to the hometown crowd.

The band played barefooted and seemed like they were having a good time, which translated well to the crowd.

Durry appeared next on the main stage, another Indie rock group. The band, coming from Minnesota, had the crowd grooving.

The Minnesotans said the main stage was the biggest stage they’ve ever played “by far” and wished for a day where they can play wireless guitars.

Yung Gravy was the first “big” act of the day, and played a diverse set of rap songs and new country tracks.

One drawback was the noise pollution from the Main Stage to IHG. You couldn’t hear IHG from the Main Stage, but you could clearly hear the Main Stage from IHG.

On top of that, after Flo, every set on IHG was backed up. Alex G ended up coming on and playing around 15 minutes.

Teezo Touchdown was on before Alex G, and though he was 20 minutes late, he still played a full set.

Before the show started, Teezo went to the crowd and explained that he couldn’t hear himself in his ears, so the set was delayed.

Following Teezo, Farruko played his hit song ‘Pepas’ on gopuff, and then most headed out to Dominic Fike or stayed for Rauw Alejandro.

Dominic Fike brought the energy to GovBall. The crowed was moving and singing along to every word, and Fike looked like he was having a great time.

Fike’s hour-long show set the tone for the final headliner.

After an hour, Post Malone came out for his 90-minute headlining set.

The set started with an orchestral style cello and violin solo, followed by the guitarist coming out, and finally followed by Post.

Malone performed a full career-spanning set, playing songs from most of his records, and his new country hit, ‘I Had Some Help’.

He also brought along two fans on stage to help him play guitar and sing on ‘Stay’.

The show ended with a 3-song encore, a firework show, and Malone coming down to greet fans who were camped out all day.

GovBall has only just started; time for The Killers tonight!
