Adjacent Festival announced its inaugural festival which took place on May 27th and 28th, 2023.

The festival, which occurred on the Atlantic City Beach, seems to be a one-and-done, as it would have occurred for a second year this week.

The festival was conveniently placed just a couple weeks after Bamboozle was set to return for the first time in over ten years. Many speculate that Adjacent was created to “kill” Bamboozle. Bamboozle’s lineup was set to feature the likes of Limp Bizkit, Joey Badass, and Yung Gravy.

Adjacent featured two days of pop punk and other rock subgenres, as well as a large handful of New Jersey natives.

Headlining the festival on Saturday was Paramore, who is opening for Taylor Swift on her tour overseas. Sunday was headlined by blink-182, which was the only date in New Jersey on their reunion tour with guitarist Tom Delonge.

Also featured on the lineup were Jimmy Eat World, Turnstile, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, and Knocked Loose. The festival was spread apart into three stages on the beach: a main stage and two side stages, both next to each other which alternated sets for non-stop music.

The festival was also filled with local New Jersey bands, both big and small: Bleachers, The Happy Fits, The Front Bottoms, Midtown, Meet Me at the Altar, and many more.

Along with this festival not returning, TidalWave Festival also appears to be silently disappearing. The country music festival lasted two years in Atlantic City and featured names like Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, and Luke Bryan.

Even though Adjacent does not seem to be returning, there are still plenty of festivals in the area. AC Beer Fest held two separate festivals this year: one in the spring, featuring Goldfinger, Hot Mulligan, and Saves the Day, and one in the summer, which will feature The Menzingers and Fortunate Youth.

If you’re looking for a replacement for TidalWave, the Barefoot Country Music Festival is still going strong in Wildwood, with a jam-packed lineup this year featuring Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Kane Brown, and Old Dominion.
