The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, along with the Rooftop @ Pier 17 in Manhattan, are both set to open for their first shows of the calendar year on Saturday, May 4th.
The Rooftop @ Pier 17 is opening with two old school punk bands, Social Distortion and Bad Religion. The two bands are on their North American Co-Headline tour along with special guest LOVECRIMES.
The show is the first of two for these bands at the Rooftop, with the second show being on Wednesday, May 8th. Social Distortion is closing day one, while Bad Religion will close the second show.
The Rooftop opened 6 years ago for summer concerts, and is featuring artists like Michael Franti, Sublime with Rome, Slash, and Taking Back Sunday later this year.
The Stone Pony Summer Stage also has their first show of the year. The 4,500-capacity venue opened over 20 years ago, and the indoor Stone Pony turned 50 years old this year.
Sum 41 is playing their final show in New Jersey, and are bringing along guests The Interrupters and Joey Valence & Brae.
The Stone Pony Summer Stage will feature artists like Something Corporate, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional, and Gary Clark Jr. this year. Among those bands, a huge footprint will be local NJ bands, including Bleachers, Streetlight Manifesto, The Gaslight Anthem, and The Bouncing Souls.
