Sound on Sound Festival in Bridgeport, CT, is set to return for a third year on September 28th and 29th, 2024.
The festival has previously been headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Nicks, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and more.
The festival, which takes place at Seaside Park, was rained out on day one last year, and the city was bummed about it, but are excited for it to return. “I think [Sound on Sound] is bringing more people to Bridgeport that normally would have been scared to come to Bridgeport. I’m glad we’re showing off our great park,” city board chairman Banjed Labrador said.
The city’s park board unanimously approved a request by the organizers of the festival for the festival to return on the same weekend as last year, September 28th and 29th. The setup for the festival will take place during the two weeks prior, and will be taken down the following week.
Though the festival is set to return, Jim Koplik, 74, the regional president for Live Nation, admitted that the festival has had a late start. He said that the festival was starting to book bands in December, when at that point, it should have already been halfway through.
“We’re looking for talent,” Koplik said, “When you’re asking people to pay over $100 a ticket, it better be good talent.” Tickets for last year’s festival started at $179 for one day before fees, in comparison to Sea.Hear.Now, which is $160 per day with all fees included.
In December, Koplik was quoted saying, “I know we screwed up, but social media was very mean to us and I took it personally.” With Koplik citing his age at 74 years old, he’s hesitant on whether or not he wants to take on more responsibility. “I’m not really sure I want to do it again.”
Despite these comments, the festival is still set to return in late September, though no official post by their social media accounts has been made. As for other festivals on the same weekend, Oceans Calling, South Star, and Ohana have already revealed their lineups.
