Weezer has announced their Voyage to the Blue Planet arena tour with The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur, Jr, in the fall of 2024.
Weezer, who subheadlined Sea.Hear.Now in 2023, has only played one show in the state in the past five years, and that will continue. The arena tour is not coming to New Jersey, however it is stopping at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The MSG date is September 11th and Wells Fargo is September 13th.
The Flaming Lips last played in New Jersey two years ago at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, and Dinosaur Jr. were last here at their Stone Pony show earlier this year.
The Blue Album, featuring hit songs Buddy Holly, Say It Ain’t So, and My Name Is Jonas just to name a few, was released in May of 1994. The band will be performing The Blue Album in full on this tour.
Weezer isn’t the only band playing anniversary albums in full on tour this year. Green Day has announced their Saviors Tour, which will include a 30-year performance of Dookie and a 20-year performance of American Idiot, with both records being played in full. They are stopping at Citi Field and Citizens Bank Park in August.
2024 will surely be a great year of concerts in the northeast, with a hometown performance from Bruce Springsteen at Sea.Hear.Now, The Rolling Stones performing at MetLife, and Billy Joel playing his final show of his MSG residency this year.
Presale for the Weezer tour goes on sale 3/13 at 9am, exclusively to Weezer Fan Club members.
Northeast tour dates:
September 10 – Boston, MA at TD Garden
September 11 – New York, NY at Madison Square Garden
September 13 – Philadelphia, PA at Wells Fargo Center
September 14 – Washington DC at The Anthem
